hope on the horizon
Clichés come in many shapes and sizes, for all occasions. But one cliché really made my day this morning. Good things come to those who wait.
I have waited for 10 whole years in this cockroach-infested quasi-country. Good things are appearing over the horizon.
Thank you, Hala.
must-be-saids
Meanwhile, I must also thank the beautiful and amazing Lou for being even more supportive than expected. There is no one who would even want to go through what you are voluntarily going through.
politics as usual
More on this issue later. As for now, it seems that the political situation in the country is going nowhere. Sectarian tension is on the rise. Smells like 1975 all over again. There is talk of "Us vs. Them;" there's mention of "Shiite and Sunnis." It is getting ugly.
N.B.
I took the above picture while walking around Hamra Street some time last April or May. Lou and I happened upon this balcony as we followed a small alley that we believed would lead to nothing special.
Nothing beats the feeling of accidentally stumbling on magic!

Good things come only to those who deserve it.
Is it your wish to leave your country? If so, is that difficult? Do you have to be invited by someone living somewhere else or what? Or are the rules not so rigid? Just curious since I don't know how it goes for Lebanese people on these matters..
Goldilocks
Goldilocks,
It is my wish to leave my country, but wishes don't always come true. It's not about being invited; it's rather about finding a job elsewhere and making a life for yourself.
I'm not technically "stuck" in Lebanon, but if i wanna leave, i gotta get a job somewhere else.
But thanks for asking.
